Fire Risk AssessmentFrom 1st October 2006 the law changed the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came in to force which places the responsibility on business owners and occupiers for the fire safety of their premises.
Businesses are responsible for fire safety in their premises. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order affects any work place and you are legally responsible for carrying out the mandatory detailed FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT.
Fire certificates will no longer be valid, although a fairly recent fire certificate may be a good starting point for your FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT.
The law will directly affect you if you are:
- Responsible for business premises
- An employer
- Self-employed with business premises
- A charity or voluntary organisation
- A contractor with a degree of control over any premises
